Philipp Emig

Philipp joined Leitmotif in December 2025 and brings extensive experience in global energy and climate investing. He combines investment judgment with hands-on operational support, working closely with founders to help them navigate scaling, organizational build-out, and strategic decision-making. He is based in Munich, Germany.

Prior to joining Leitmotif, Philipp was Senior Vice President of Energy & Climate Investments at Picus Capital, where he built and led the firm’s global investment activities in those sectors. His investments include Axle Energy and SpotmyEnergy (home energy flexibility), terralayr (grid-scale battery storage), Quantile Energy (power forecasting and trading), and Smart Solar (B2B solar deployment).

In addition to investing, Philipp gained on-the-ground experience by supporting multiple of these portfolio companies operationally, spending several months full-time with three startups to help them drive execution during critical growth phases.

Earlier in his career, Philipp worked at McKinsey & Company, advising clients in the automotive, advanced industrial, and energy sectors on strategy and large-scale transformation projects across both Europe and Asia.

Philipp earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Mannheim and an MBA from INSEAD.
